Hand-made, and it shows
No two
alike
Every part is laid by hand, one at a time, so no two are identical. A slightly wavy weave, a small bubble or a mark in the clear coat can happen. That is what hand-laid carbon is, and we would rather tell you now than surprise you at the door.
Every carbon surface gets a UV clear coat, so the weave keeps its depth and shine in the Southern California sun.

Most parts come in carbon fiber. Many come in Kevlar carbon (red, yellow or blue) or in fiberglass that you can paint. Here is how they differ.

Where is Special Carbon Fiber based?
Special Carbon Fiber is a self-owned shop at 2252 Main St Ste 6, Chula Vista, California 91911, near San Diego. We make carbon fiber, Kevlar carbon and fiberglass car parts there and ship them across the US.
What carbon fiber do you use?
Every carbon part is made with 2x2 twill, 3K, 5.7 oz carbon fiber cloth: AS4 aerospace-grade fiber rated at 644 ksi. It is the most widely used pattern in the automotive industry, and our cloth is woven tighter than most, which keeps the weave straight. Each part is clear-coated for UV protection and a long-lasting shine.
How long does shipping take?
Orders ship within 3 to 7 handling days, Monday to Friday (we are closed on weekends). We ship with FedEx and USPS and every order needs a signature on arrival. Kevlar parts are made to order, so they take longer.
How do you ship hoods?
Hoods do not go by FedEx. They ship by freight in a box of about 60 x 50 x 5 inches weighing 25-30 lb. Email info@special-carbonfiber.com for a freight quote, or to arrange pickup with your own shipping agent.
What Kevlar colours can I get?
Kevlar carbon parts come in red, yellow and blue Kevlar, depending on the part. Kevlar orders are made by pre-order only: email us your colour choice with your year and model when you order.
Will my part look exactly like the photo?
Close, but not identical. Every carbon part is laid by hand, so no two are the same. Small imperfections such as a wavy weave, a small bubble or a clear coat blemish are part of hand-made carbon and are not treated as defects.
