Carbon fiber parts

Our carbon fiber parts are made with 2x2 twill, 3K, 5.7 oz carbon fiber cloth, AS4 aerospace grade rated at 644 ksi. Each part is laid by hand in Chula Vista, California, then clear-coated for UV protection and a long-lasting shine.

267 parts in our catalog are carbon fiber. Browse them all.

What is 2x2 twill 3K carbon fiber?

Carbon fiber cloth is woven from bundles of thousands of tiny carbon filaments. 3K means each bundle (tow) holds 3,000 filaments. 2x2 twill is the weave: each tow passes over two and under two, which gives the diagonal pattern most people picture when they think of carbon fiber.

2x2 twill 3K is the most widely used pattern in the automotive industry. The cloth we use is woven tighter than most, which helps keep the weave straight on the finished part.

Is it real carbon or a wrap?

Real carbon. Every carbon part is made with real 2x2 twill 3K carbon fiber cloth, laid over a mold and set in resin, not a printed or wrapped carbon look.

What grade of carbon fiber is it?

Raw carbon fiber comes in three broad grades: high modulus (aerospace), intermediate modulus and standard modulus (commercial). Each maker names its own grades; Toray calls its commercial grade T300, while Hexcel calls its grade AS4.

Our cloth is AS4 fiber rated at 644 ksi tensile strength.

Why do hand-made carbon parts vary?

Because a person lays every sheet. No two parts are identical, and small imperfections such as a slightly wavy weave, a small bubble or a mark in the clear coat can happen. They are part of hand-laid carbon, not a defect.
